In the book printing space, there is … "You-Know-Who" … "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named” … “The Dark Lord”. That’s right, Amazon.

As authors, we don’t like to support billion dollar companies and the billionaire’s subsequent divorce settlements and re-marriage expenses, see weddings in Venice. But Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing just make it so easy to print cheap books. The distribution scheme is a bit dodgy, but gosh the books are cheap.

What if we told you, we can compete with Amazon’s price and make your books locally with the love and care it deserves. We are serious!

At Aburra Press, we use high quality materials to make high quality books. We also have a brand new printing press with perfect registration and vivid colours. Our production and expertise is specialised for short run books. Short run mean anywhere between 10 - 200 books. That is the sweet spot. At around 100 books we can start to match Amazon’s pricing.

To make this possible we recommend going with our standard book size of 154x220 mm instead of the American 6x9 inches. Our standard size is based on Australian standard paper sizes. This means less paper wastage and more paper stock choice - good for the environment and your wallet. A rare, all in one, moral and economic victory. Alternatively, we can print your book in inches, if you insist.

We usually include the spine design and basic layout work free of charge. We will measure the spine on your choice of paper stock and based on your book body. Then our inhouse designer, an expert in pre-press, will send the design for you to approve.

Our turnaround times are quite amazing too. We can complete most jobs within 48 hours of final artwork approval! This is the production standard we set ourselves - and are always on the lookout to improve productivity and quality.

We are based in Sydney and open for visits, the only downside is that you might have to talk to us and we might take a keen interest in your work. We can deliver to most New South Wales address within 1-2 business days. We also ship Australia-wide through Australia Post.
