About Us

We are a bunch of people who enjoy our work.

We can also take things quite seriously, especially when it comes to quality. This is because as fellow authors, we understand the blood, sweat, and tears put into creating a book.

Drop in to meet us and you risk being knocked over with our enthusiasm and inquisitiveness. We are open about our entire production process, and because we care about book making, we have become quite good at what we do.

If you place your trust in us, we are prepared to go the extra mile - work late nights to make sure the work gets done on time and is up to the quality for which we are known.

Sometimes it can be quite stressful and we will not be able to cope, but for the help and support of our customers. It is a 2-way street. We give our best – always, and this is appreciated by our customers. This kind of relationship encourages us further.

We work closely with our customers to produce the best outcomes.

Background

Aburra Press is quite new to the scene. It all started with a chance encounter because Barry had a desire to print his own book. However, it is not really a new business, we are supported and mentored by master bookmakers with over 30 years of experience.

It has been a full year since we set up our new facility in North Rocks NSW 2151, and we are so touched with the local support we have received. We have also upgraded our machines, and now operate a brand new production digital printing press - for vivid images and perfect registration.

Since then out team has also grown!

Barry Wang - Barry is the director of the company, who decided to give up a corporate career to make books. He is also writing his own book, he claims he is making progress and that everything is part of the process.

Francis Chuah - Francis is our mentor and special advisor. “Its all about the fundamentals” he would say. He has retired and is now running a cafe at Car City.

Jackson - Jackson is our Gen-Z vibe hire and “head intern” and has many other titles. He helps with print production and also makes sure our marketing and design ideas pass the vibe check.

Cindy - Cindy is our resident designer and a guru with all the softwares and files. She also has a sharp eye for what is fashionable. Without Cindy, we would not be able to make our production so smooth.

Company Culture

In short: We intend to make books for a long time.

The wisdom of the older folks is that only good things can come from long term thinking, especially for a company. You are less stressed when things don’t go well and there is a greater tendency to provide better value to customers.

We enjoy doing business with the widest range of professions and companies and creatives and individuals. The core of our approach is service. We believe great service comes from respect, honesty, and giving.

For us, the younger folks, it is also about making things with your hands. The ability to make and create something is very important and fulfilling - it cannot just be about doing something cheaper and selling found objects. We take pride in our work and there really is satisfaction in making a book.

Last but not least, we make books. It is our desire to stay up to date with processes and technology to produce better books. Improving productivity and adapting to industry trends will also result in better pricing for customers.

We want to build a company that will stand the test of time.
